10.2 Accius Navius

Tarquínius Priscus
Latínos vicit;
Circum Máximum aedificávit;
Sabínos superávit;
murum urbi circúmdedit.
Équitum centuriárum númerum
auxit,
nómina mutáre non pótuit,
quod
Áccius Návius detérruit.
Áccius enim,
aúguri perítus,
id fíeri posse
negávit
contra ávium indícium;
irátus rex
ad artem experiéndam
eum rogávit:
"Fieríne potest id
quod nunc cógito?"
"Potest," respóndet Áccius.
"Sed hoc," inquit rex,
"cogitávi:
num possum
lápidem illum
secáre gládio?"
"Potes ergo," inquit Áccius,
et rex
secuísse dícitur.
