In terris vero
édere coepit orácula,
praesértim Delphis,
ubi sacérdos
respónsa dabat,
ínsidens cortínae,
sive trípodi,
tecto pelle serpéntis Pythónis,
olim ab Apólline interfécti.
Praetérea
invénit artem canéndi,
et Mársyam sátyrum,
a quo fúerat provocátus,
victum cantándo,
éxuit pelle.
Eámdem canéndi artem
et poésim
dócuit Musas,
Iovis et Mnemósynes fílias.
Novem recenséntur,
Callíope, Clio, Érato,
Thalía, Polyhýmnia, Uránia,

incolébant.
