9.2 Legati Verba


          


Legátus,
ubi ad fines eórum venit,
qui bellum minántur,
caput velat:
"Audi, Iúppiter," inquit,
"audíte, fines huius pópuli:
Ego sum
públicus núntius Pópuli Románi;
verba mea
vera esse
accípite."
Deinde
péragit postuláta.
Si non dedúntur res
quas poscit,
hastam
in fines hóstium immíttit
bellúmque ita indícit.
Legátus,
qui
propter hanc rem míttitur,
modúsque belli indicéndi
próprium nomen habent.
